The sun has been shining brightly (well for the most part anyway), blue skies have reappeared (let’s ignore the temperature) and peonies and sweet peas have started to bloom. Bojo announced that we will be able to sit indoors in pubs and restaurants soon and travel and holidays are on the horizon- hooray! Which means one thing……YOU NEED TO LOOK GREAT!

Over the last year, many of us have come to embrace living in a more virtual world, sometimes that’s opened doors or connection that would of otherwise been shut and other times it’s the source of a wealth of frustration in awkward family quizes or difficult work meetings at the kitchen table. When it comes to Jackson & Seddon and their idea for creating a virtual wine bar

Let me start by saying that I am not here to preach. Often I see eco-living articles and ultimately end up feeling guilty that I’m not doing enough. Now more than ever, life is busy and stressful and full of anxiety, so worrying about the environment and the future of the planet can feel more than a little overwhelming.

Lockdown really has given us a chance to up our skincare game. While we’ve had the opportunity to ditch the heavy makeup and let our skin breathe, we’ve also been able to reflect on how much time we used to spend in the mirror attempting to achieve often unrealistic beauty standards. Step forward, the “new […]

With lockdown continuing for most of us it feels as though we are caught in a never ending cycle of being stuck at home working/ not working, child care, home schooling and zooming, with the dishwasher being loaded and unloaded several times a day and social interactions (IF we have time) being conducted through video conferencing and Whatsapp.

Christmas is fast approaching and we can already smell the mince pies and mulled wine. In all the festive excitement, let’s make sure we love the planet, as well as our friends and families this Christmas. The best way we can do this is by reducing the phenomenal amount of waste that has become as synonymous with Christmas as Santa.

In January 2020 I officially gave up the day job and took Aldcroft Photography full time. I had wedding bookings and was looking forward to meeting lots of families for outdoor shoots, especially the bluebells in spring, and getting cuddles with newborn babies. A new year, a new decade – this was my time to […]

As a small business owner with over 15 years of running my own business building it from my bedroom, I can safely say that dealing with the COVID pandemic has been the single most stressful and hardest thing I have had to do. Having rebuilt in the 2008 economy crash and dealt with many other […]

by Sarah Cooke Right now we are obviously going through some strange & uncertain times, but I don’t believe that means you have to compromise your business – it IS possible to have a business that you love and that works for you on your terms. Even if you’ve had to temporarily close your doors […]

I’ve heard talk of 4th July parties and planning of big days out to mark the occasion. Whilst many businesses are still not able to open and others are open with adjustments, there is no denying that seeing hairdressers, pubs, cafes and restaurants will bring both excitement and a greater sense of normality to our […]

The last few months have been “challenging” to say the least, whether you’ve been home schooling, full-time parenting little ones, or juggling a bit of everything. I think we can all agree it’s certainly taken its toll. For many of you (myself included), this probably means your business has taken a back seat. With the […]

I’m sure I’m not the only person who wishes they’d bought shares in Zoom back in February…whether chatting with family and friends, conducting meetings or joining a fitness class, the demand for, and use of, this online meeting platform has been huge. In the past week, with shops reopening, social bubbles expanding and some children […]

This week sees the re-opening of many of our favourite high street and retail businesses. Whilst many businesses have adapted to offer online, postal, or adapted services, re-opening of physical stores is probably the biggest step towards normality we’ve seen since lockdown started. We are thrilled at the boost it will give these businesses and […]

by Margarita Salomó – Personal Stylist Let’s talk about the benefits of clothes, fashion, style, accessories, a dash of make-up and getting properly dressed every day during this lockdown If I have learnt one thing while being isolated at home, it’s the value of the small things that we take for granted, like: preparing to […]

1. Look at the light Phone cameras perform best in bright, natural light. Open shade is ideal. Stand your subject in the shade (eg. cast by a building or trees) so direct sunlight is not hitting him/her causing squinting and/or harsh shadows. Ideally your subject is looking out of the shade toward the open […]

I saw a meme this week that showed a lockdown budget where all items in the budget were £0, but food was about £2k a month. It’s a pretty fair assessment of lockdown life, isn’t it? Suddenly our main preoccupation is getting food and what to have for our next meal…and actually constantly feeling […]

by Amy Overy. A month ago, I flew to Australia for four days. I really wouldn’t recommend it as a mini break destination…the jet lag is awful. I work as a freelance TV producer covering Formula One, and Melbourne was to be the opening round of the 2020 season. Except it didn’t happen. A member […]
